Support, maintenance & warranty

Everything the factory manual states about running the pump: the pre-start checks, the maintenance interval, the fault table and the warranty terms. Nothing here is a summary of a summary — these are the manual's own numbers.

Before you use it

Six checks from the manual. Following them prevents the two failures that destroy these pumps: running dry, and lifting by the cable.

1

Immersion depth and pre-start check

The pump is for drainage; the normal suction depth is 1-5 m. Before use, check that the pump is intact, that no joint is loose or leaking oil, and that the cable is not crushed or cut. Measure the insulation resistance with a megohmmeter: at least 50 MΩ cold, at least 2 MΩ hot.

2

Supply voltage tolerance ±15%

The pump accepts a supply within ±15%. The inverter output is stable. If the voltage is too low the input current rises until the drive reaches its protection threshold and stops. Switch to manual mode, lower the pump speed slightly so the current and the power drop.

3

Dedicated switch and proper earthing

Give the pump its own circuit breaker or switch. The earth terminals on both the drive and the pump must be connected to earth. The yellow-and-green twisted wire in the pump lead is the earth conductor and must be earthed reliably.

4

Never lift by the cable; extension must be equal gauge

Never pull the pump by its lead — it damages the insulation. If the supplied cable is too short, the extension wire must have a cross-section equal to or larger than the original. Seal every joint with waterproof tape.

5

Lift through the eye ring, keep 1 m off the bottom

When lowering or hoisting the pump, pass the rope through the ring. Never lift it by the cable. Keep the pump at least 1 m above the bottom, otherwise sand and silt are drawn in and damage the mechanical seal and the impeller.

6

Float switch: never run dry

Watch the water level carefully when the pump hangs on a float switch — especially in a deep shaft. Running dry will burn the motor and other parts. Do not set the pump down in bottom sludge, because poor cooling also destroys the motor.

Operating notes that affect your duty

These are the parts of the manual that change an engineering decision. Read them before you fix a pump to a site — two of them will change which pump you pick.

Axial pumps do not follow the centrifugal hydraulic model

For an axial pump the relation between flow, head and power differs considerably from a centrifugal pump. At low head, the same drive frequency gives a lower power draw as the flow rises; if your site runs at low head you can raise the frequency to the set maximum to increase flow. At high head the input power can reach three times the low-head value. When the drive hits over-current protection it stops: lower the frequency and the speed so the running current stays inside the permitted range. This adjustment must be done by staff experienced with drives.

Constant-power mode removes the manual adjustment

Once the drive is set to constant-power running, the manual adjustment described above is no longer needed.

Low-head axial pumps: 7-10 m rated, up to 15 m; above that choose high head

Low-head axial pumps are rated at 7-10 m and can reach 15 m, with exceptions. Using a low-head axial pump above 15 m wastes power and lowers efficiency. Above 15 m, select a high-head flood pump — those run from about 20 m to 50 m and sometimes higher.

Hose run: every 100 m of discharge hose costs 7-10 m of head

Count 7-10 m of extra head for every 100 m of horizontal discharge hose. With 100 m of hose the effective head rises by 7-10 m. At 200 m or more the real working head exceeds the rated head and the drive will stop on protection. Lower the frequency and the speed, or switch to a high-head flood pump.

Drives are model-specific — never interchange them

Every pump size is paired with its own drive. Drives for pumps of the same rating — same speed, flow, head and power — are interchangeable. Different ratings cannot share a drive, because the motor parameters and sometimes the speed differ. Fitting the wrong one will damage the drive or the pump.

Motor leads go to U / V / W only — never straight to 380 V

The three motor leads must be connected to the U, V and W output terminals of the matching drive. Connecting them directly to an AC 380 V supply will burn the motor windings and destroy the pump. Feed AC 380 V into the R, S and T input terminals instead. On a three-phase four-wire grid do not connect the neutral — an unbalanced neutral can create a potential difference.

Earth to local earth, never to neutral

The terminals marked −, + and the third terminal are left unconnected for the earth conductor. Connect it to the local earth, not to the neutral of the three-phase four-wire system.

Drive panel keys

PRGM is the program key and the display changeover key — non-specialists should not touch these two. The green key starts and stops. The red key stops. The LCD shows frequency by default; current and speed are linear with frequency, so a higher frequency means a faster speed. Drives are set at the factory and need no further adjustment: use only the start and stop keys. Parameter changes should be made only by staff with drive experience, after reading both manuals — otherwise the drive programme can be corrupted or the unit damaged.

The cabinet is rain-resistant, not waterproof

The drive sits inside a stainless steel cabinet that also holds the control wiring, cooling fan, circuit breaker, leakage protection, buttons and indicator lights. The cabinet is built for outdoor use and can stand rain, but keep it protected from spray, damp and humidity. The input and output sockets are labelled — do not swap them.

Automatic protection and dry-run stop

With the matched drive the unit has automatic over-voltage, over-current, overload and overheat protection, and runs across a wide voltage range while the speed stays synchronised. When the water drops to the pump inlet the system detects the dry condition, enters the protection programme and shuts down, so the motor is never cooled without water.

Maintenance

The manual is specific about the interval, and specific about the consequence of ignoring it.

1

Replace wear parts every 2000 running hours

After 2000 cumulative operating hours the wear parts must be replaced once — bearings, seal rings, mechanical seal and cooling lubricating oil. Skipping this turns a small job into a much larger loss.

2

Dry it out before storage

If the pump is out of service for a long period, wash and dry it, and store it in a ventilated dry place. Check the paint film for flaking.

Fault diagnosis

The manual's own fault table, transcribed verbatim.

SymptomCauseAction
Motor does not run
  • The power supply or the drive is wired incorrectly
  • The drive is in a fault protection state
  • The impeller is jammed so the motor cannot start
  • The motor is damaged
  • The drive is faulty
  • Check the wiring
  • Inspect the circuit and the drive, and clear the fault
  • Find and remove the cause of the impeller jam
  • If the drive, motor, bearings or winding are faulty, contact the service department
No water, or not enough water
  • The impeller turns in the wrong direction
  • The inlet strainer or the impeller is blocked
  • The impeller is badly worn
  • Swap any two drive-to-pump output wires
  • Clear the blockage
  • Replace the impeller and send it for repair

The table is for reference only. Do not repair or modify the unit on your own. If the fault cannot be cleared, contact us for technical support.

Warranty

One year quality guarantee

When the product is used as this manual specifies, damage should not occur. We give a one-year quality guarantee.
